You, rest inside my mind
Since the day you came,
I knew you would be with me
All the times we spent
What we shared was surely
Warm enough to know you cared for me
Light, floods through memories
Helps me walk my path
I’ll keep my head up high
Words and Faith and Love
Your strength gives me hope
Someday I’ll find you with open arms
She hums in tune to the sweet melody, the beater in her palm running off a different rhythm than the slow theme that played from her lips. A smile is set upon her face hearing of promises and reunions- ones she would only find in her dreams and place upon wishes.
Even at the end of everything, miracles could happen.
It had kept her alive all those centuries and driven her will , now everything was finally over.
❝ ─Serah? ❞
The tone of her sister’s voice catches off from her wandering thoughts. Serah notices the surprise in her older siblings face, seeing more of that blue in her eyes. Serah scrunches up her nose in bewilderment at such expression. ❝ What’s wrong? You seem so surprised?❞
Did her thoughts become expressed too openly?
Lightning shakes her head, uttering a short sound. The shock that crossed her face faded.❝The song you were singing. I asked a singer to perform it in Yusnaan, I’d never thought… ❞ The words end there, Lightning could no longer hold her gaze- hiding in her cover of pink.
Serah had rarely heard of Yusnann, but when she found Snow, he had told her all about it. Sometimes she’d try and conjurer up a visual of the glittering city- wondering what it would be like living there, but even at the end of days such things would be mediocre to the threat that would consume whatever is left of their home. ❝ That I would actually hear it? I think…I think I did hear it, wherever I was. Maybe a part of me still didn’t want to forget the times we’d spent together, with you and Snow. ❞
In that moment, Serah stops what she’s doing. ❝ I don’t know why but, after I died, all I wanted was for you to keep me in your memories- like I wanted to play that song to remind you that whatever happens, I’ll still be here- whether I’m alive or not. Memories are enough. But I’m here now, and I won’t leave you or Snow’s side. Ever. ❞
Serah never forgot the smile that her sister gave.
